Parking Price Index
The Parking Price Index compares recorded standard hourly rates in the edition's sample from Nordic and Polish cities. The table shows the median, the number of price observations and the share of HittaParkering's city dataset with price data. Prices are in local currency and euros; they are not quotes for parking today.
The Parking Price Index summarises recorded parking tariffs in a dated edition for Nordic and Polish cities. It shows the median paid standard hourly rate in that edition's sample and, where data exists, the median recorded daily maximum charge.
The inputs are price observations from HittaParkering's source data when the edition was compiled. Price data is not independent verification of current totals, all mandatory fees or eligibility conditions. The map's records may have changed since then.
Records classified without a price remain in the total city dataset, but do not count as zero prices in the hourly median or enter the Free share denominator.
The median is the middle price in the edition's sample. Individual high or low prices affect it less than an average. It describes HittaParkering's price observations, not automatically every parking facility in the city.
We use the nominal standard hourly rate, not whichever tariff happens to be active at the moment. On-street parking is often free at night, so a rate measured at the wrong time would give a misleading median. The standard rate is independent of when the edition is compiled.
Where the tariff steps up by the hour, as in the Polish zones, we use the effective hourly cost of a two-hour stay instead of the first-hour price.
A city enters the table when the edition's sample contains at least twelve paid hourly observations. Every city uses the same threshold; it guarantees neither representativeness nor correct current prices.
Local prices are converted to euros using the European Central Bank reference rates, and the rate date is printed on every edition. Local currency is always shown alongside the euro figure, so nothing is hidden in the conversion.
Sample (n) is the number of paid hourly observations in the median. Price coverage is the number of records classified as priced (paid or free) divided by all city records in the edition. Free share is the number of records classified as free divided by priced records; unknown prices are outside this denominator.
This is price-data coverage in HittaParkering's sample, not national facility coverage or a measure of verified totals. Coverage below 20 percent is labelled Low. The threshold is a caution signal, not a confidence interval; a displayed median need not represent the full city dataset.
Each dated edition is kept at its own URL. Older fixed editions may include prices that later safeguards exclude; they have not been recalculated. New safeguards do not retrospectively validate old figures. Trends require comparable price history across a full period.
